UNICEF: The humanitarian situation of refugee children and their families in Armenia remains acute

Armenia currently counts 115,257 refugees, including 36,000 children, UNICEF said in a report on the humanitarian situation in Armenia. As mentioned, the refugees fled from Artsakh in late September 2023, or were escorted through the Lachin corridor between December 2022 and September 2023, joining 26,700 displaced since the 2020 conflict.

“Following the large-scale inflow through the Lachin corridor in September 2023, the scale and complexity of the humanitarian situation of refugee children and their families in Armenia remains acute, requiring humanitarian assistance and protection to meet still urgent needs and ensure continuity of much needed services for the affected people,” reads the report.
