The National Assembly has ratified the much-discussed Rome
Statute. What does the statute suggest, and what consequences may it have for
Armenia? In 2004, the Constitutional Court of Armenia held that the statute was
partially unconstitutional. However, on March 28, 2023, the Constitutional Court
revisited its 2004 decision. On Sept. 13, 2023, in a question and answer
session with the Government, Nikol Pashinyan announced in the National Assembly
that Armenia was going to fully ratify the ICC Rome Statute. In fact, this was
done today.
