In all the years of Moldova’s independence, the presidential elections in Moldova fell far short of democracy; the authorities mounted an unprecedented crackdown against the opposition and independent media, especially the Russian-language media, TASS writes, referring to Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
“Experts and political scientists point out many violations and falsifications committed by the authorities. They draw attention to the non-transparent voting by mail, which opens an opportunity for fraud,” Zakharova noted.
