National Assembly ratifies Rome Statute by vote of 60 to 22
The Rome Statute has been ratified by the National Assembly
of Armenia with 60 votes in favor and 22 against. The Opposition voted against
its ratification.
The Constitutional Court of Armenia had earlier held that
the obligations arising from the Rome Statute adopted on July 17, 1988, did not
contravene the RA Constitution. In 2022, the RA government applied to the
Constitutional Court in this regard. Later, the executive referred the Rome
Statute to the Parliament for ratification.
