Davit Babayan and Levon Mnatsakanyan charged in Azerbaijan

Former Foreign Minister of Artsakh and Adviser to the
President Davit Babayan has been remanded in custody for four months. As stated
by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan, Babayan has been charged with
more than 10 articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

He is charged with “waging aggressive war, recruiting and
training mercenaries, violating international humanitarian law during an armed
conflict, inaction or giving criminal orders, planning terrorist activities,
stirring up interethnic animosity” and many other articles.

Besides Babayan, Former Commander of the Defense Army of
Artsakh, Lt. Gen. Levon Mnatsakanyan is held on remand as well. He has been
charged with Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Mnatsakanyan was
arrested yesterday in the Lachin corridor.
