During a question-and-answer session in the National Assembly today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed several key issues, summarized as follows:
Armenia has sent its latest proposals regarding the peace treaty to Azerbaijan;
Azerbaijan’s claims that the Constitution of Armenia contains territorial claims to Azerbaijan are based on a general reference in the preamble of the Constitution to the Declaration of Independence, where Nagorno-Karabakh is mentioned.
Yerevan does not wish to lead the negotiations into a deadlock; therefore, it is not presenting counter-demands to Baku regarding its Constitution.
We propose signing a strategic agreement based on the concept of a real Armenia.
We may reach solutions regarding the opening of regional communications.
In many cases, we are forced to make incorrect decisions because our previous decisions have not sufficiently aligned with the logic of statehood, and we find ourselves continuously caught in this cycle.
