Former Slovakian president refused pension
The Office of the President of Slovakia has announced that it has terminated pension payments to former president Andrej Kiska due to his involvement in tax fraud.
Normally, Slovakian presidents receive an annual pension of approximately $50,000 after leaving office.
The president’s office added that the termination of payments is based on a ruling by the Court of Appeals on Oct. 31, which upheld a lower court’s decision finding Kiska guilty of tax fraud and sentencing him to one year of conditional imprisonment.
The former president has not pleaded guilty and stated that he would appeal the verdict in order to clear his name.
