Washington standing with the Georgian people

Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State Matthew Miller has responded to recent events in Georgia, noting that the U.S. stands with the Georgian people.

Miller said the U.S. has clearly expressed its concerns regarding the actions taken by Georgia’s ruling party, Georgian Dream, on the path to European integration.

“As you know, we do not announce sanctions from this platform in advance, but when the need for sanctions arises, we do take action. You have already seen that we have imposed sanctions on representatives of the Georgian government, introduced visa restrictions, and taken other measures, including suspending $95 million in aid to the Georgian government,” Miller stated.
