Lives shattered in the ashes: California’s apocalypse

Shattered human lives and countless people left homeless: It feels like the most tragic Hollywood film is being shot right in Hollywood.

City authorities avoid releasing the final death toll, fully aware that it will continue to rise. As of Friday afternoon, the names of ten victims have been released. According to various reports, at least five churches have been destroyed, nearly seven schools have been reduced to ashes, and two major libraries have burned down. Independent organizations estimate the cost of damage to be between $135-150 billion.

U.S. President Joe Biden has called the California fires the most devastating in the state’s history, while Trump referred to the events as apocalyptic. The cost of damage in Los Angeles alone could exceed $20 billion. As of Friday, around 130,000-150,000 people have been evacuated, and the fire is literally hanging over 15,000 homes.
