Israeli Army chief of staff resigns

Herzi Halevi, Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, has submitted his resignation. He informed the defense minister that he accepts responsibility for the failures of the army during the Hamas attack in October 2023.

Halevi will leave his position on March 6.

A ceasefire deal was reached between Israel and Hamas on Jan. 19. Additionally, three Israeli ministers submitted their resignations the day before, expressing their protest against the ceasefire signed with Hamas.
