Russian Foreign Ministry expresses bewilderment regarding anti-Russian publications in Azerbaijani media

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has met with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Rahman Mustafayev.

The Russian side emphasized the absolute importance of building relations between Russia and Azerbaijan in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance, based on the Declaration signed on Feb. 22, 2022, based on the national interests of both states.

In this context, bewilderment was expressed regarding several anti-Russian publications made in Azerbaijani media recently, as well as the disinformation campaign against the Russian House in Baku. The absolute groundlessness of the raised accusations was emphasized.

While discussing the theme of the Dec. 25, 2024 crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft near Aktau, Kazakhstan, the necessity of completing the official investigation and publishing its results to clarify all the circumstances of the tragedy was emphasized.

To remind, Baku places the responsibility for the incident on Russia. The leadership of the South Caucasian republic has made quite unexpected and, at the same time, harsh statements directed at its strategic partner. It is noteworthy that Aliyev has practically made final conclusions before the completion of the investigation that began immediately after the tragedy. The main complaint of official Baku is that the Russian side imposed restrictions on air transport over the capital of Chechnya only after the passenger plane was ‘hit.’
