Baerbock opposes immigration policy tightening in Germany
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has criticized the opposition coalition of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU) for its plans to tighten migration policy. Baerbock called for addressing this issue at a pan-European level, RIA Novosti reports.
The CDU held a congress in Berlin, where the party’s plan was adopted, outlining measures for the country’s immigration policy following the elections. The proposed measures include permanent monitoring at Germany’s borders, a ban on the entry of illegal migrants, and the detention of foreigners who have committed crimes and are subject to deportation.
According to Baerbock, the CDU’s proposals do not take into account the opinions of Germany’s European neighbors, emphasizing that the issue of reducing illegal migration to Europe should be tackled collaboratively by European countries.
