Azerbaijan announces cessation of Rossotrudnichestvo and USAID activities

An official notification has been sent to the Russian side regarding the cessation of activities of Rossotrudnichestvo in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani media reports, citing its sources.

“Azerbaijan continues the course of consistently protecting its national interests and shows that it does not intend to tolerate external interference in its internal affairs, regardless of where it comes from,” media reports say.

“Our country has become a donor itself and does not need external assistance, especially when such assistance is provided based on non-transparent schemes, and the structure of the organizations has an overtly intelligence-related nature,” the sources noted.

Earlier, the American side was also officially informed that USAID had no legal basis to operate in Azerbaijan and had to cease its activities.
