Aliyev hopes US’s ‘unjust and dishonest’ approach toward Azerbaijan becomes history under Trump

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with the Chinese CGTN TV channel that his previous experience working with U.S. President Donald Trump was very positive.

“We remember the times when President Trump was leading the United States, and our relations were developing successfully, unlike in the last four years when they completely deteriorated due to the Biden administration’s unjust and dishonest approach toward Azerbaijan. We expect that these four years, which we consider lost years in U.S.-Azerbaijani relations, will become history, and we will resume our work,” Aliyev stated.

He noted that many Western leaders are concerned about Trump’s presidency. “Some Western leaders have acted very unjustly toward President Trump, and of course, they are worried that perhaps now is the time to take responsibility,” the Azerbaijani leader said, noting that he sees no serious reasons to be concerned about changes in the U.S.
