
Who will become the guarantor of the ‘new Armenia’s’ security?
Official Yerevan continues its search for new allies in national security. It has frozen its membership in the CSTO and decided to establish an inter-agency commission to coordinate the review of Armenia’s national security strategy.
Aside from signing strategic agreements with the outgoing governments of the United States, Germany, and other countries, this administration does not have other security guarantees from those countries, experts say. Whether Russia or the CSTO will be part of Armenia’s new national security strategy remains unclear. However, political analyst Tevan Poghosyan suggests looking at the other side of the coin: Does Russia even want to be Armenia’s ally?
