Zelenskyy’s last stronghold: Europe sets new rules of the game

Having crossed the ocean without a suit to hand over his country’s natural resources and rare metals to the U.S., Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy returned to Europe after experiencing deep disappointment and bitterness. There in Europe, he enjoys support—though some experts argue that it’s not about love for Zelenskyy but rather hatred for Russia. It is Europe’s dislike toward the vast state that compels Europe to stand by Zelenskyy.

Just hours after receiving harsh and blunt responses from Trump, Ukraine’s presidential plane landed in London, with Zelenskyy carrying a new dossier. The plane was still in the air when words of support were uttered from Poland, France, the EU, Spain, Moldova, and many other countries.

Upon arriving in the U.K., a European summit on Ukraine was held in London, attended by the leaders of over a dozen European nations and governments. Later, government convoys headed to Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, East Anglia, where King Charles III and Zelenskyy spoke over a cup of tea for an hour. It is noted that King Charles III “warmly welcomed” Zelenskyy. The latter, in turn, noted that he had a “very good meeting” and expressed gratitude for the support provided to Ukraine.

Russia, the U.S., Europe—at this moment, Europe remains Zelenskyy’s only ally, whose entire budget taken together, does not even come close to the amount donated by the United States. In turn, Europe is busy solving its own problems and it is not a fact that they will be more sympathetic to Kyiv than to their own state.
