Zakharova on Rome Statute ratification, active Turkish involvement and Russian aid sent to Artsakh
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova
referred to the relations between Armenia and Russia, the possibility of the
Rome Statute ratification, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, etc.
Ratification of the Rome Statute is an unfriendly move
“A few days ago, the Armenian Ambassador to Russia was
summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on account of a series of unfriendly
actions. We expressed our attitude toward it all. Yerevan’s motivation should
be explained by Yerevan. They have expressed their viewpoints. We consider
those actions unfriendly. It is not an ordinary action, and the Armenian side
realized that it would bring up questions for us.”
The Russian aid was delivered to Stepanakert by mutual
agreement with the Nagorno-Karabakh officials
“The contents of the humanitarian aid were agreed with the
officials of Nagorno-Karabakh. Everything was settled with the sides, and,
despite difficulties, the cargo was delivered. However, a number of crooked
media outlets made attempts to devalue the Russian contribution. Such
statements are beyond the realms of morality.”
About the active Turkish involvement in the issue of
normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan
When it comes to calls for peace, we support Ankara’s
actions. When their statements go against Moscow’s position or hinder the
implementation of agreements, we openly talk about it with our Turkish
partners.
Armenia’s statements slow the settlement process
When asked what she thinks about the relationships with the
Armenian authorities and how they affect the relations between Armenia and
Russia, Zakharova said: “That process does not constitute a mere paper or
signature. What really matters is that it is orchestrated by people who have
been prisoners of that very situation. Therefore, Yerevan’s actions and statements
are not acceptable to us.”
