Zakharova: Russia will never be Armenia’s enemy
Russia is not Armenia’s enemy and will never be. Russian
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said this in her interview with
RIA Novosti during the Eastern Economic Forum.
“It was not Russia that recognized Azerbaijan’s rights to
Nagorno-Karabakh; It was the Armenian leadership. Now it is up to the people of
Armenia to decide how to respond to it. However, there is no need to lay the
blame and responsibility for the decisions made in Yerevan on Russia,” she
noted.
Zakharova also referred to the recent changes in relations
between Armenia and Russia, which are accompanied by personal insults.
“In fact, we did not focus on the harsh tone and personal
insults, but on the very fact that those statements were based on falsehood,
inaccuracy or on an attempt to pass facts off as they wished. In fact, this
gave rise to our response, and because of this, the ambassador was summoned to
the foreign ministry,” Zakharova noted.
