Abbas Araghchi: Turkey and several other countries had a direct influence on the events in Syria

Turkey and several other countries have played a direct role in shaping the events in Syria, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with Agence France-Presse.

“I don’t think anyone doubts that Turkey and several other countries have had a direct influence on events going on in Syria. Therefore, the issues that have arisen now, such as Israel’s large-scale occupation of Syrian territory, the destruction of all of Syria’s defensive and scientific infrastructure, and the resulting responsibility for all existing conflicts, are naturally borne by those who facilitated these changes and developments,” Araghchi said.

He added that Iran is not in conflict with Turkey and will continue to maintain friendly relations and engage in consultations with Ankara on regional matters.
