Russia urging Armenia and Azerbaijan to avoid actions that could escalate the situation

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Russia is concerned about reports of increasing tension along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border amid recent progress.

“We urge our partners to maintain restraint and avoid any actions that could lead to an escalation of the situation. All emerging issues should be resolved exclusively through peaceful and political-diplomatic means. We are calling on Armenia and Azerbaijan to urgently return to the implementation of agreements reached at a high level,” Zakharova noted.

Speaking about Russia’s commitments to Armenia in the bilateral format and within the CSTO framework, Zakharova stated that all of these commitments remain in force. She added that Armenia’s freezing of its membership in the CSTO does not contribute to its security.
