Samvel Shahramanyan’s application for president’s post submitted, while Samvel Babayan’s turned down

The Artsakh NA Free Motherland – UCA Alliance, the Artsakh
Justice Party, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and the Democratic Party
of Artsakh have put up Samvel Shahramanyan as their candidate for the
president’s post. The United Motherland party nominated Samvel Babayan. Acting
NA President of Artsakh Gagik Baghunts said this.

The application for Samvel Babayan’s candidacy, submitted by
the United Motherland party, has been refused on the grounds that a reference
stating that Samvel Babayan has been only an Artsakh citizen for the last 10
years and that he has been a permanent resident of the Republic of Artsakh for
the last 10 years was not provided.

Under Part 3 and Part 4 of Article 149.1 of “The Rules of
Procedure of the National Assembly” law, a special parliamentary session will
be convened at 11:00 a.m. on Sept. 9, 2023; the presidential election will be
on the agenda.
