Wagner is set to be proscribed as a terrorist group by the
UK government. U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak made an X (Twitter) post on
this.
“It’s right that today we are proscribing the group for what
it is – a terrorist organisation,” Sunak wrote.
Proscribing Wagner as a terrorist group means that it will
be illegal to be a member of the organisation as well.
Spokesperson for the Russian president Dmitry Peskov did not
comment on Sunak’s statement. He only noted that legally the Wagner group does not
exist.
“There is nothing to comment in this regard. I should remind
you that such a group does not exist de jure,” Peskov said to journalists.
