Death toll from earthquake in Myanmar reaches 3,645

The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Myanmar has reached 3,645, with 5,017 people injured and another 148 still considered missing, Armenpress writes, citing China News.

According to the Myanmar Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, following the catastrophic earthquake that occurred on March 28, there have been 98 aftershocks, with magnitudes ranging from 2.8 to 7.5. More than 80% of buildings have been damaged, particularly in the major cities of Sagaing, Mandalay, and Magway.

On March 28, two powerful earthquakes struck Myanmar, measuring 7.7 and 6.4 in magnitude, respectively. The epicenter was located near Mandalay, the country’s second-largest city. The quakes destroyed thousands of buildings, cracked roads, and collapsed bridges.

The tremors were also felt in neighboring Thailand, as well as in China, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and India.
