Coalition government formed in Germany
Representatives of the conservative coalition of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU), along with the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), have presented a coalition agreement in Berlin, Deutsche Welle reports.
The parties have agreed to tighten immigration policies, reduce taxes for businesses, regulate social benefit payments, and significantly increase military spending.
Friedrich Merz, the leader of the CDU, is expected to be elected as Germany’s chancellor on May 7.
