UK chief of Defence Staff visits China for 1st time in decade
Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, Chief of the Defence Staff and the United Kingdom’s highest-ranking military officer, visited China this week, where he met with the country’s armed forces command, TASS reports.
This is the first visit to China by a British Chief of Defence Staff in 10 years, coming at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump is waging a trade war with China and is therefore of great interest, but officials, including Admiral Radakin himself, have been brief on the content of the visit.
In a short press release, the UK Ministry of Defence stated that Admiral Radakin and Chinese military officials discussed “issues of mutual concern.”
“We agreed that in an unstable world we must play our part as responsible nations with global interests, and we reflected on the importance of military-to-military communications,” Radakin wrote on X.
