Borrell: The prospects in the Gaza Strip are truly bleak
The 27 member states will try to achieve a “series of
pauses”. The call for a complete ceasefire cannot be met because of a lack of
consensus. High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security
Policy Josep Borrell said this.
According to him, at the meeting in Brussels on Monday, the
EU foreign ministers are going to demand that Israel take on a responsibility
to secure a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
“The prospects in the Gaza Strip are truly bleak. We have
said at the G7 and other meetings that Israel should not adopt the same
strategy in the south as it does in the north of Gaza, but it is doing the
same, and even worse. Thus, the number of victims among innocent civilians
continues to increase,” he said.
