Demand that UN Security Council adopt resolution, open Berdzor corridor, punish Aliyev: Letter to Foreign Ministry
Today, the Opening initiative sent a letter to the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. Member of the initiative Narek Ayvazyan stated
that they believe that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will turn to the U.N.
Security Council with a request to adopt a resolution. Under this resolution,
humanitarian aid should be provided to the Armenians of Artsakh, the Berdzor
corridor should be unblocked and Aliyev should be held responsible for his
actions.
“The resolution should also contain a clause on the
protection of rights — including political ones — of the Armenians of Artsakh,”
he said.
The letter, addressed to Ararat Mirzoyan, notes that
alternative roads infringe the right of the people of Artsakh to exercise their
free will and legitimize the blockade of the vital corridor — which does not
operate through Azerbaijan’s and its sponsors’ efforts — thereby changing the
political nature of the conflict to a merely humanitarian one.
The members of the initiative also demanded that the Berdzor
corridor be immediately unblocked and humanitarian aid be sent to
Artsakh.
