Harvard University president accuses Trump administration of violating law

Harvard University President Alan Garber has accused the Trump administration of illegality, Axios writes.

Garber wrote an open letter in response to the Trump administration’s threat to withhold new federal grants from the university. In his statement, he described the attempts by Washington to influence the university’s policies as illegal. He noted that the institution is non-partisan, and the allegations to the contrary are unjust. He also noted that Harvard will not abandon its neutral stance out of fear of retaliation.

On April 26, Harvard filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, demanding the cancellation of the $2.2 billion federal funding freeze.

Earlier, Trump had called Harvard University an “anti-Semitic” institution.
