Trump and ‘pleasant gentleman’ interested in rapid resolution of Ukrainian crisis

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the issue of direct communication between the Russian and Ukrainian leaders, Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

Peskov noted that Russia is interested in quickly resolving the Ukrainian crisis by eliminating the root causes of the conflict.

“It is clear that the United States is interested in achieving results as soon as possible. President Trump has spoken about this. Putin shares this view. Everyone is interested in a quick resolution. We, primarily, are interested in a speedy resolution by addressing the fundamental causes of this conflict. This is the most important aspect of all the projects we will formulate,” the Kremlin spokesperson stated.

Trump, in turn, called Putin a “pleasant gentleman” following their conversation.

“We had a good discussion, and I believe progress has been made,” the U.S. president noted.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that Trump is focused on halting military actions in various parts of the world and advocates for the rapid resolution of major armed conflicts.
