Zelenskyy’s legitimacy will be fundamentally important for peace agreement conclusion, says Lavrov

Ukraine expected that the West would allow it to do whatever it wants forever, but U.S. President Donald Trump demonstrated a different understanding of the situation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

According to Lavrov, Trump clearly states that the war in Ukraine “is not his war.” The Russian foreign minister added that a second round of negotiations with Ukraine is expected. Work on the memorandum is already at an advanced stage from Moscow’s side.

Lavrov stressed that Zelenskyy’s legitimacy will be of fundamental importance in the process of signing a peace agreement.
