Armenia, too, has gradually come to see the potential the South Caucasus has, says Georgia’s president
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has stated that the South Caucasus has the potential to become an oasis in the region. His remarks came during an appearance on Georgia’s Public Broadcaster’s program “Actual Topic With Maka Tsintsadze”.
According to Kavelashvili, he is “very pleased with the meetings I have had with the leaders of neighboring countries.
“It was an ideal picture when we were talking with one another. My first visit was to Azerbaijan, then to Armenia. Armenia, too, has gradually come to see the potential the South Caucasus has. Today’s message of congratulations from the United States also underscores this. It has become evident to them as well what opportunities exist for making peace in the South Caucasus a priority,” he said.
Kavelashvili emphasized that while major powers will inevitably have interests in the region, the South Caucasus has the capacity to become a regional oasis—not a site of conflict, nor a servant to any major power’s agenda.
“On the contrary, we should move step by step toward dialogue, investment, and the normalization of relations. That potential exists,” the Georgian president concluded.
