Dutch government resigns
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof has announced that his cabinet is resigning following the decision of Party for Freedom Leader Geert Wilders to leave the ruling coalition. Wilders stated that his party is exiting the coalition because its members had not supported his new plan to tighten immigration policies, RIA Novosti writes.
“With the departure of members of the Party for Freedom, there is no sufficient support for this government,” Schoof said after a Council of Ministers meeting.
He added that he is going to see King Willem-Alexander to request the resignation of the ministers.
“The rest of the government will continue to serve temporarily,” Schoof stated.
