Nicolas Sarkozy stripped of Legion of Honor

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been stripped of the Legion of Honor, Le Monde writes.

Sarkozy’s loss of the order is due to his conviction on Dec. 18, 2024, for three years of imprisonment on charges of corruption and abuse of influence.

Thus, Nicolas Sarkozy has become the second French leader to be stripped of the Legion of Honor; the first was Henri Philippe Pétain.
