NATO’s incursion into CSTO territories conducted under guise of military exercises, says Russia’s Security Council

The situation along the western border of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is threatening, as Western countries are militarizing, Aleksey Shevtsov, Deputy Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, said during a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of CSTO Security Councils.

“NATO’s military presence is increasing, provocations in the airspace and seas are rising, and incursions into CSTO member countries’ territories are being carried out under the guise of military exercises,” Shevtsov noted.

Shevtsov stated that “the dismantling of international and European security mechanisms” is a result of actions by Western countries. “European countries, including Germany, France, and Poland, are on a path of militarization despite the difficult economic situation they are facing,” he added.

Shevtsov highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation within Eurasian mechanisms and coordinating efforts within frameworks such as the CSTO, the EAEU, the SCO, and other organizations. “Work in this area must be accelerated,” he concluded.
