Hungary and Slovakia to block new sanctions adoption against Russia
Hungary and Slovakia have decided to block the adoption of the EU’s new, the 18th, sanctions package against Russia, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said during an online briefing.
According to him, Budapest and Bratislava are taking this step in response to the EU’s plans to completely ban the import of Russian energy resources.
“We are taking this step because the EU wants to prohibit member states, especially Hungary and Slovakia, from purchasing cheap Russian natural gas and Russian oil,” Szijjártó stated.
