Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

A House lawmaker, Rep. Buddy Carter, is nominating President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize after he brokered a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran, Fox News writes.

Carter wrote to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, declaring Trump had an “extraordinary and historic role” in having ended “the armed conflict between Israel and Iran.”

The American lawmaker also emphasized the U.S. president’s role in stopping Iran’s nuclear program, calling the Islamic Republic the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded every year on Dec. 10, the birthday of Swedish scientist Alfred Nobel.
