Abraham Gasparyan: What the Declaration of Independence states or my perception of the Ten Commandments of Independence
Director of Genesis Armenia Think Tank and Foundation,
Candidate of Political Sciences, Associate Professor Abraham Gasparyan made a
Facebook post as to how he perceives the Declaration of Independence and the
Ten Commandments of Independence.
“1. Purify your minds, be disciplined, have progressive
outlook,
2. Get educated, love hard work and knowledge, spread
knowledge,
3. Encourage innovation and be bold, love wisdom, work hard
to develop your own self and others.
4. Subordinate your self-centered perspective to the
collective one, which implies a just world order,
5. Do not perceive homeland as merely a republic or a
monarchy, which are rather legal terms,
6. Keep your national dream alive, realize that the
restoration of the infringed rights of Armenians has no expiry date and
consider it the responsibility to be shouldered by future generations,
7. Set national and state interests side by side, consider
the continuous strengthening of security mechanisms the guarantee for
development,
8. Mature politically and place reliance on the collective
capacity of the Armenian nation and not on foreign states,
9. Be open-minded, do not make enemies, but at the same time,
do not compromise national principles, goals and values,
10. Believe in the eternity of your homeland and pass this
idea on to future generations.
Happy 33rd Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence!
Stay strong!” he wrote.
