
World’s oldest leader again to run for president
The world’s oldest president, 92-year-old Paul Biya, will once again run for the position of leader of Cameroon, he said on X.
Biya announced that he will be running in the presidential elections scheduled for Oct. 12 of this year. Addressing the country’s citizens, the president called on them not to doubt his determination to serve the interests of the people.
Biya has been leading the country for over 40 years. His predecessor, Cameroon’s first president Ahmadou Babatoura Ahidjo, resigned in 1982 due to health reasons. Biya has been elected as the head of state seven times.
