Ukraine withdraws from Ottawa Treaty on anti-personnel mines
Ukraine has announced its withdrawal from the Ottawa Treaty on anti-personnel mines. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the relevant law.
“I have immediately signed the law on Ukraine’s suspension of the Ottawa Treaty on anti-personnel mines,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram, noting that Russia has never been a party to this convention.
The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine had already approved this decision in June, but it only came into effect after being signed by the country’s president.
