Steep gas prices to cause new price increase

Gasoline prices in Armenia have risen sharply in recent days. Months ago, the price of gasoline fell, going from 300 to 320 drams per liter. However, today, a liter is sold for 500 drams.

Economists claim that the increase in gasoline prices will affect the prices of other products as well. This increase is a result of the sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation.

According to MP Tadevos Avetisyan, when we import gasoline at low prices, we conclude a minimum of a three-to-six-month contract with the exporting country. Thus, during this period, the global increase in prices cannot affect Armenia. Experts are sure that the RA Government’s arguments that fuel prices have increased as they import it at high prices, do not sound convincing.
