Trump says Zelenskyy won’t attend upcoming Alaska meeting
U․S․ President Trump plans to call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders after his meeting with Putin, he said at a press conference, the BBC reports.
“If this is a good deal, I will tell European leaders, NATO, and Zelenskyy about it,” Trump stated. “Zelenskyy will not come to Alaska because he has already attended numerous meetings.”
According to the U.S. president, the next meeting after the Alaska summit should be either between Putin and Zelenskyy, or among Putin, Zelenskyy, and Trump.
Trump said he intends to urge the Russian president to end the war in Ukraine during their meeting in Alaska on Friday.
Trump described the meeting as “preliminary.” According to the U.S. president, Putin really wants to stop the war. However, Trump noted that the Russian leader has disappointed him in the past.
“I think the meeting will go well, but it could also go badly,” Trump concluded.
He also stated that there will be a certain territorial exchange between Russia and Ukraine, which, in his words, will be both good and bad for Ukraine.
