Iranians to never compromise on national security, says Velayati
Ali Akbar Velayati, Senior Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader on International Affairs, said Iran will never accept any concessions regarding its national security, Mehrnews reports.
Last week, Velayati met with Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan to discuss bilateral relations. During the meeting, he stated that Iran will not tolerate any actions threatening its security.
Kostanyan briefed Velayati on recent regional developments and negotiations held in Washington, emphasizing the historical friendship and strong neighborly ties between the two countries. He also noted Armenia’s readiness to strengthen relations with Iran.
Velayati welcomed the expansion of bilateral cooperation and highlighted Iran’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region, particularly regarding relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He also recalled Iran’s active efforts to promote peace, even at a cost, including the deaths of diplomats’ family members during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The official noted that the future of the region should be determined exclusively by the countries within it.
