Pashinyan is an absolutely cynical man without principles, Russian expert says
Alexander Martinov, Director of the Institute of the Newly Established States of Russia, commented on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s apology for his harsh remarks about the Church.
According to Gazeta.ru, the expert believes that the failure of Pashinyan’s campaign against the clergy will likely not mark the end of his political career.
“He is an absolutely cynical man, without principles, without reflection. His apologies to the Church today sound just as cynical as yesterday’s accusations. Today it is convenient for him to publicly apologize, so he did,” Martinov said.
He added that despite Pashinyan’s “retreat” on the Church issue, Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan—who has repeatedly criticized the Armenian leader’s policies—remains under arrest in Armenia.
