‘World’s kindest judge’ dies at 88

Frank Caprio, the American judge renowned for his heartfelt courtroom speeches, has died at the age of 88, according to a post on his official Facebook page.

The announcement stated that he passed away from pancreatic cancer.

“His legacy continues to live on through the countless acts of kindness inspired by him. In his honor, we will try to bring a little more compassion into the world, just as he did every day,” the statement read.

Caprio served for 38 years at the Providence Municipal Court in Rhode Island. In December 2023, he recorded a touching video message in which he spoke about his diagnosis.

He became widely known through the reality show “Caught in Providence”, with clips from the show widely shared on social media. Overall, he had 1.6 million followers across various platforms, including TikTok.
