Tehran maintains ties with Moscow and Beijing on nuclear program issues, says Iran’s Foreign Ministry
Tehran maintains contacts with Moscow and Beijing regarding Iran’s nuclear program, Spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry Esmail Baghaei said.
“By keeping communication with China and Russia, who are participants in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, we have also conducted and continue to conduct negotiations with three European countries,” Baghaei said during a press briefing.
The diplomat added that Tehran’s goal in these talks is to safeguard its national interests.
On Aug. 26, deputy foreign ministers from Iran and the “E3” (United Kingdom, Germany, France) are scheduled to meet in Geneva to discuss the lifting of anti-Iranian sanctions and resolving disagreements over Iran’s nuclear program.
