Argentine president attacked with stones during campaign rally

Argentine President Javier Milei was forced to abruptly cut short a campaign event in the city of Lomas de Zamora after protesters hurled stones and bottles at his motorcade.

The incident occurred while Milei was greeting residents from an open-top vehicle. Clashes broke out between his supporters, police, and demonstrators, during which objects were thrown at the president’s car. Security personnel immediately evacuated him from the area.

Presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni confirmed that there were no casualties, blaming the unrest on supporters of former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

The rally was part of the campaign ahead of Buenos Aires Province’s legislative elections, scheduled for Sept. 7.
