Putin and Zelenskyy not yet ready to end war on their own initiative, says White House

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said during a press briefing that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are not yet ready to end the war on their own initiative.

According to Leavitt, U.S. President Donald Trump wants Russia to halt its war against Ukraine, but both leaders must also be willing to bring the conflict to an end.

“The war is not over yet because neither side is ready for that. The President wants to see it end, but Putin and Zelenskyy must also want it. I believe the President will make further statements on this issue in the future,” Leavitt said.
