Georgia deports 100 foreign citizens in 1 month, including Armenians

Georgia has deported 100 foreign nationals over the past month as part of joint operations carried out by the Migration Department and other divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Georgia’s state broadcaster reports, citing the ministry.

According to the MIA, those deported were citizens of Armenia, Egypt, Iraq, Turkey, Turkmenistan, India, Jordan, Iran, Syria, Pakistan, Russia, Kenya, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Lithuania, Nigeria, China, and Kyrgyzstan.

Under existing legislation, they have also been banned from re-entering Georgia.

“The Migration Department of Georgia’s MIA is responsible for combating illegal migration. One of its key functions is to identify foreigners residing in Georgia without legal grounds and ensure their deportation,” the ministry said in its statement.
