Grenades fall near peacekeepers in Lebanon

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that Israeli drones dropped four grenades near peacekeepers on Tuesday morning along the southern border of Lebanon, in the Israeli border zone, Al Jazeera reports.

The incident occurred while UNIFIL personnel were removing roadblocks that were obstructing access to the U.N. positions.

“This is one of the most serious attacks on UNIFIL personnel and equipment since the ceasefire agreement of November last year,” the organization said in a statement.

According to the report, one grenade landed just 20 meters from U.N. personnel and vehicles, while three others fell approximately 100 meters away.

Israel has violated the ceasefire reached with Hezbollah in November 2024 through nearly daily attacks. Tel Aviv claims it is targeting Hezbollah sites and members, but these operations have resulted in numerous civilian casualties, displaced communities, and the destruction of infrastructure and residential buildings.
