Iran says deal with IAEA would be terminated in case of hostile actions
There are no direct contacts between Iran and the United States, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said.
“There are mediators conveying the parties’ positions to each other. However, we are not in direct communication with the U.S.,” Baghaei said.
Baghaei stated that negotiations regarding the “snapback” mechanism—allowing the reimposition of sanctions—are under way.
He added that in the event of hostile actions against Iran, the agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would be terminated.
“No country can force Iran to implement an agreement whose core essence has been altered,” Baghaei said.
He also noted that when Iran refers to hostile actions, it specifically means the potential reimposition of sanctions by European countries.
